Around 2009, we crossed paths with the studies of a Bible teacher from America, Stephen E. Jones. These studies were life-changing for us. Growing up in a Christian environment, we had countless questions about contradictions in the Bible ... things that seemed to be incorrect and to which no one could give us answers. Through these new studies we suddenly got a complete view that brought everything together and resonated in our hearts.
In 2016, after many study books, he wrote a first novel based on biblical principles and it immediately aroused my interest. The book is about a man called Anava. Anava discovers a light in a cave that he is exploring. There he has an encounter with the Creator and the revelation he receives sends him on a mission to bring light to others.
It is a book with a lot of metaphors and in order to understand it more deeply, I immediately started translating the chapters in Dutch (my native language) in 2016.
Due to all kinds of other activities, the translation got a few years delay... along the way I got some help from two friends ... and at the end of this year, 2020, it was finally there: the Dutch translation is ready!
Several people read along with me during the translation process, but I really like it that it is available now for everyone to download. You are one of my English readers, but if there is any purpose for you to have the Dutch download, you can find the book at downloads on this website. I am also recording it chapter by chapter for anyone who prefers to listen rather than read. I still have to find out how best to put this on the website.
It may take some getting used to at the beginning of the book, where a lot of metaphoric language is used. Later on, the story will run more smoothly. If the book interests you, my advice is to just keep reading and take from each chapter what resonates within yourself. Sometimes it may be just one sentence, sometimes an image. I've read it several times and every time new things stand out for me and help me on my way.
Would you rather read the book in English (and the three sequels to this book, which I don't know yet if I am going to translate them too.. :) ), Here is the link to the book on his own website:
